SPECIAL ANNOUNCMENTS!!!
THE PARK IS OPEN!!!!! (07-17-08)
GOOD NEWS! Our local power company has finished the
installation of the new transformer and the electrical boxes that needed replacing
have been replaced. We were sad to have to close the park for this long and
cancel our Christmas in July event but we are glad to finally be open again!
PARTS OF THE CEDAR VALLEY NATURE
TRAIL ARE CLOSED! (07-13-08)
The damage to the trail has been extreme Parts near
the Evansdale and McFarlane Cedar River bridges have been washed away and are
damaged beyond repair. Accessible parts are from the McFarlane Trailhead to Gilbertville, and from

The La Porte City Festival of Trails scheduled for
June 13th-15th has been rescheduled for August 22nd-24th.
The fireworks are scheduled for Friday night and the parade is scheduled for
Saturday morning. There will be no car show but the cruise is scheduled for
Saturday afternoon. There will be booths bands and other entertainment downtown
during the weekend, however there will be no carnival rides during this event

a sandy knoll at the confluence of the Cedar River and
McFarlane is quite a campground and is a great place to enjoy nature or bring friends and circle the wagons. So whether you want to sit in the dark and listen to the lonely hoot of the Barred Owl or sit by the fire and enjoy the company of friends, McFarlane is your choice.
This is what our new road looks like (if it isn't flooded) This enables us to get the road open a lot faster after the winter and a flood. Also it's a lot less dusty and nicer to drive; ride; or walk on.

Introducing the Mud-Brigade! At least that's what I've decided they should be called. They discovered that after 3 weeks of rain that the back trails can be a bit muddy. Although that didn't seem to bother them.
